A brief overview of Dr. Rompf’s industry experience begins with progressive responsibilities in the multiple departments of the Kellogg Center (193 room Conference Hotel) at Michigan State University, advances through military club management and as a member of the pre-opening management team for Walt Disney World, to consultation and involvement with numerous industry-based projects, some international in scope. Rompf has further been active in the management of festivals and special events, in particular serving as part of the management team that hosted the U.S. Women’s Olympic Marathon Trials for the 1996 Summer Olympics. Dr. Rompf is an active member in professional associations, both industry and academic in nature, and frequently has served as an officer or as a board member of the associations. Rompf has authored several articles and papers, written a monthly column for the newsletter of a state lodging association, and is active in applied research on the travel and tourism industries. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina, with a major emphasis in marketing and a minor in international business. |
