Manage the technical resource operations of the Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida.  Under the supervision of the Dean, responsible for the overall design, direction, and implementation of technology at the Rosen College. Coordinated the planning, bid process, and implementation of all information technology equipment, and the network/telecommunications infrastructure during the construction phase of the College. Supervise a staff of technical professionals that manage and provide first-level support of the voice and data networks, servers, computers, peripherals, video conferencing, and multimedia equipment in all offices, labs, and classrooms. Provide user account administration, web site maintenance, software licensing, inventory, and PC support to faculty and staff. Reviews and maintains UCF IT operating standards and provides equipment and budget recommendations to ensure the Rosen College maintains and continuously operates state-of-the-art technology.

 

Operations Supervisor, Smart City Solutions, Lake Buena Vista, FL      02/2002-10/2002

 

Established LAN/WAN infrastructure for six convention facilities on Walt Disney World property with the implementation of T1 services and the configuration of Cisco routing and switching devices.  Directly supervise and train team of five technicians to install data and network services for over one hundred conventions and trade shows to-date.  Troubleshoot and resolve issues regarding network services, address customer complaints, interfacing with Network Operations Center personnel as necessary.  Manage all technology assets, providing budget input, equipment recommendations, and cost justification to executive management for procurement of new equipment.

 

Principal Test Engineer, Siemens Information and Communication Networks, Inc., Lake Mary, FL    08/2000-02/2002

 

Developed procedures for testing data and voice over IP (VOIP) communication servers and telecommunication switches (PBXs) running on Windows 2000 Server, NT Server, NT Workstation, and Unix platforms.  Resolved technical problems associated with production test equipment. Established Ethernet and Token Ring based local area networks (LANs) used for production testing.  Built Windows 2000 Server and Advanced Server test lab to support prototype testing.  Provide technical guidance and training to staff technicians.

 

Network Specialist, Honeywell, Inc., Orlando, FL          09/1997-08/2000

 

Managed and upgraded four Novell networks running on Compaq servers. Provided user support and training for up to six statewide field offices consisting of over 300 Dell, Toshiba, and IBM laptops and desktop computers.  Installed high-capacity Compaq DLT backup devices running Arcserve.  Implemented solution for field employees to enter financial data into remote databases using PCAnywhere. Brought all IT assets to Y2K compliance.  Voted Employee of the Month and received Employee Excellence Award.

 

LAN Support Specialist, Ballas Engineering Contract Technical Services, Schaumburg, IL      01/1997-08/1997

 

Provided NT and Novell network and printer support services as a contract employee to four regional client field sites.  Performed on-site troubleshooting, problem resolution, and user account administration from phone requests received through Apriori central dispatch system.  Major projects included server data migration, upgrades, and consolidation.

 

Sr. Systems Engineer, Mobile Computing Products Division, Motorola Inc., Schaumburg, IL    02/1996-01/1997           

 

Installed, tested, and troubleshot modem communications and server software/hardware applications within a networked laboratory running Novell NetWare, Windows NT, Shiva LanRover, and Unix SparcStation.  Conducted functional testing of Motorola PCMCIA devices including associated application software.  Developed and documented product system requirements, test plans/results, and product manufacturing specifications.  Prepared and provided technical support of product demos, evaluation units, and product literature used by sales force and in trade shows. Configured, tested, and maintained various network security servers and authentication devices (SecurID, TACACs, RSA) for network security infrastructure testing.

 

Project Engineer, Standards and Engineering Research Departments, Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., Northbrook, IL            01/1993-02/1996

 

Conducted software development evaluations on microprocessor-controlled devices used in safety applications. Developed UL safety standards for commercial or industrial products based on engineering research, testing and industry input.  Established and maintained on-line bulletin board service (BBS) for client access to information on UL standards.  Performed network system administrator functions for department consisting of over 40 desktop IBM-compatible PCs, file server, tape backup, and six printer services running on Banyan Vines Network Operating System.

 

Program Manager, Captain, Ballistic Missile Organization, United States Air Force, Norton Air Force Base, San Bernardino, CA  04/1989-10/1992           

 

Managed cost, schedule, and performance of nuclear missile development and support contracts. Monitored and reported development testing of missile support contracts, conducted technical evaluations of contractor proposals, and prepared statements of work in support of government acquisition process. Provided cost estimates and life cycle studies to senior management.  Directed activities of contract engineers from TRW, Boeing, Rockwell International, and Ford Aerospace in execution of missile reliability and maintainability (R&M) support contracts. Developed and published weapon system specification requirements and military standard requirements in support engineering and parts sourcing areas. Awarded Air Force Commendation Medal for reducing contract costs.
